The Hibiki Project is grateful to have the opportunity to create and perform in Tkarón:to - the place where the trees are standing in the water. Tkarón:to is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples.
Hibiki launched in September 2021, with the goal to connect like-minded artists in the creation and performance of Japanese and related musical/cultural works. Our choice to work on this land as immigrants and treaty people has opened our eyes to the continuous need for education, mutual discussion and ethical decisions informed from those who came and walked before us.
Deeply acknowledging the responsibility and contributions of our actions in maintaining the well-being of this shared space, Hibiki strives to evolve into a safe platform through which featured artists and music may hold resonance in individuals across borders and communities.
